Design project

Designing a building for production and offices

This project was for a company in Stavanger that recycles old cars and salvages reusable parts. Salvaged parts are then photographed and stored for repurchase. Their current space is too small and not optimized for the kind of work they do there. There’s also a lack of office space, wardrobes and lunch rooms for the employees.

My task was to translate the customers wishes into a realistic and functional floor plan and create facades that read well with the surrounding buildings. The goal was to create a building that is flexible in use and can be built at a low cost. Th floor plans are made on a grid that also defines the facade. The facades are split into nearly identical concrete modules that can be produced at a low cost due to very few different molds. I worked mainly alone on this project until the building permit phase.
