Mini House

Space efficient housing in Svartlamoen

This mini house is designed for Svartlamon, an ecological living lab in the city of Trondheim. The alternative district consists of new and old buildings, all with sustainability as a common denominator. I wanted to design a full-fledged mini home with all necessary amenities while still staying off-grid. The leading element in the design is the load bearing back wall made out of cross laminated timber (CLT) that carries all the home’s main functions. The kitchen and bathroom is located on the lower half of the wall, while stairs to the loft, dining table, and extra storage can be pulled out from its middle. On the upper half of the wall is a plateau for accessing the upper shelves. The plateau is level with the loft bedroom. Outside the facade is covered with wood shavings. Over all the mini house measures about 24 square meters.
