Designing and building paviljons

Sertã is a municipality in Portugal that, like many other regions of the world, struggles with centralization. People are moving away from the small towns and into the bigger cities. To attract new people to the region of Sertã, the municipality has initiated an outdoors art project that consists of several installations placed in prominent nature spots in the area. Our project, called “The Gate”, is to function as a starting point for this outdoor exhibit. Each pavilion will have a QR-code that informs visitors about one of the installations. The structures are built entirely out of wood and perform a balancing act as they rest on the wall beneath them without touching the grass. Together they symbolize human’s artistic expression in the border land between nature and built environment.
